I heard they are are thinking about delaying it's launch... Is this true??

On a side note, if nasa wanted to sell hubble, would you buy it?

The J Web scope is years behind schedule and way over budget. I'm very concerned that it won't survive the massive budget cuts going on in the US right now. It's a shame, as a fair amount of this scope has already been manufactured.

My guess is that there won't be a James Webb telescope for the reasons cited by Scopeman. Money is tight; the scope is behind schedule and over budget.

To the program's credit, it's in trouble simply because they chose to solve the most difficult problems first.

Still, in today's political environment, the program is probably considered by Congress to be expendable.

Bad management on the part of NASA has caused the massive cost overruns on this project. If they would have managed the program better, it would have not raised red flags with Congress. The Project needs to get its house in order to stay alive.

I'm not normally optimistic lol but i think it will launch, wouldn't it be a waste of money to have come this far and ditch the plans now.

I think they HAVE addressed the management issues causing the huge overspend, and I really don't think it will get scrapped. It will be a nervous wait to find out for sure though. :-/
