When you look at the sky at night and feel connected to it.

When you buy a bigger scope you buy a bigger car to tote it around in. (or vise versa!)

You observe from your roof with your 60mm department store scope to get above the trees to view Saturn before it sets. (true story)

You know you're hooked when coworkers come in and ask you what the bright light in the sky is ....

You know you're hooked when you kiss up to the boss so that he'll let you use his mountain cabin on a new moon weekend...

You know you're hooked when the complaints stop about all the astro equipment and cases stored in the den...

You know you're hooked when you keep three deep cycle batteries charged AND a 2000w generator ready in the garage ...

You know you're hooked when friends ask you if it's a new moon weekend before inviting you to something ...

You know you're hooked when you can sit and type stuff like this right off the top of your head ....

You forget to bring an eyepiece, etc (I've had to do this lots) so you go inside and fumble around in your lighted house (wife there watching tv) with your eyes closed tightly shut and your hand over them, too. Your other hand is your "feeler" hand and you use it to feel your way into the dining room and then to search the dining room table (which has long ago ceased to be used for actual dining and now has Pelican cases filled with equipment all over it) for said needed random piece of equipment. After frantic searching (your telescope and other equipment are in a field near your house, unguarded and you are eager to get beack to them rapidly) you hurriedly feel you way back outside oblivious to how idiotic you must look to your wife. But you feel it has all been worth it... YOUR NIGHT VISION IS STILL INTACT!

You know your hooked when dust etc. falls on your armchair rest & you start seeing star clusters in it!

You know your hooked when you compulsively check the clear sky chart about every 30 minutes while your at work, even though you know it only updates every 12 hours or so.

Nicely put. I prefer the local weather sites because they are updated more frequently. Doesn't matter really, since when are weathermen able to predict the weather.
